About the role:

Lead and supervise production personnel utilizing procedures and work instructions to meet or exceed customer and company requirements for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Maintain and improve production performance processes through waste reduction, problem solving and continuous improvement activity.   
  • Understand, comply, and enforce the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) measurements, IATF 16949, ISO-14001 requirements, Continuous Improvement, SAP, ZF policies and procedures. 
  • Understand production processes, requirements, prioritize, make decisions, and distribute machinery work orders to meet departmental and company production goals.   
  • Review and approve employee timecards in time keeping software including vacation, PTO, etc. in a timely manner. 
  • Track and train production employees for growth and development by ensuring employees are qualified and trained for assigned position and current level qualifications. 
  • Accountable for performance management to include coaching, corrective counseling, and disciplinary actions, submitting employee step progressions, performance reviews, and any other ZF documentation relative to employee’s performance. 
  • Direct production by regulating, coordinating, planning, assigning, resolving problems, disciplinary action, and assuring compliance with company safety, work procedures, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance programs. 
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of team leaders and employees through, constructive feedback (e.g. one-on-one discussions, written reviews, and corrective counseling, etc.), support to meet expectations, maintain open door communication, and promote an issue free environment. 
  • Represents the team by reviewing and relying important information, make necessary inquires to expedite projects in areas (such as manpower, project status, process changes/problems, customer release complaints, etc.), manage, and assists team/department to achieve goals and process information (productivity, scrap work, accident reduction, etc.). 
  • Facilitate team meetings (communication, safety, etc.) using problem solving techniques, maintains minutes, and follows up on action plans to direct production operations and department to for compliance with all company, division, and customer quality requirements. 
  • Promote efficient production methods by assuring work instructions, gages, and all required documentation are in place as well as initiates and direct procedures to increase company quality and output. 
  • Analyze operations, overseeing new job set ups, analyze machine/equipment malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments where needed. 
  • Report results of the shift in a specific and complete manner (e.g. time and reporting employee hours, machine malfunctions, etc.) to promote shift to shift communication. 
  • Prioritize, direct, and assist Technicians to support production teams. 
  • Understand and comply with IATF 16949 and ISO 14000 requirements. 
  • Supports and complies with established Company’s Corporate Principles. 
  • Maintain current certification in PSM, CPR, AED, First Aid, and actively participate as a First Responder. 
  • Participate in required Safety Leadership Training, be an advocate for the Safety Leadership Culture, and be an active participate in VPP (Voluntary Protection Program).   
  • Other duties as it relates to this position. 


Your profile: 

  • High School diploma or GED 
  • 2-4+ years of related experience  
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Proficient computer skills, strong MS Office (Excel) and knowledge 
  • Problem solving skills 
  • Proven leadership skills 
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within manufacturing/operations 
  • Ability to use (personally) and train individuals to use production/manufacturing equipment 
  • Basic knowledge of plant operations management and lean principles, processes, and techniques.  
  • English language competency 
  • Availability and flexibility schedule (e.g. weekends) to meet customer requirements. 

 

Preferred Skills and experience: 

  • Associate Degree strongly preferred 
  • Strong Technical skills (CNC Programming, Trouble shooting, etc.). 
  • Understanding of Lean principles and responsibilities. 
  • Strong skills and work experience in lean manufacturing (ZFPS, TPS, 5S, Continuous improvement). 
  • Experience with SAP, MS Project, other project management and statistical analysis software. 
  • Experience with line start up and product ramp up. 
  • Working knowledge and basic trouble shooting skills of CNC machining equipment and/or automated assembly equipment. 
  • Experience in team building and team execution.

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is exposed to normal machine shop areas, manufacturing floor areas, and occasionally, normal office atmosphere.
