Plant Quality Manager

Position Summary: Lead, manage and coordinate the Production Quality assurance, measuring equipment planning and gage management activities to meet company and customer expectations. Responsible for the plant’s Production and Gauge related Quality System to ensure compliance to customer requirements and company goals. The position is part of the Quality Department Management Team and will report to the Senior Quality Manager.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Hire; manage; develop and evaluate department personnel to include, but not be limited to interviewing; hiring and training employees; planning; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; and addressing complaints and resolving employee problems
  • Lead, manage and coordinate the department of Production Quality, Measuring Equipment Planning and Gage Monitoring
  • Develop employees reporting to the Production Quality and Gage Quality function.
  • Lead Quality Engineering teams to meet company and customer requirements.
  • Ensure open door and issue free environment
  • Interact with internal and external employees of the organization to meet common goals
  • Manage and coordinate external suppliers for measuring equipment, gages and external service providers including financial activities
  • Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the Production Quality and Gage Team
  • Part of the Quality Management Team to establish a functional quality department in regards of internal and external goals
  • Lead / Implement a “lean” manufacturing environment through ongoing continuous improvement activities
  • Lead Process Quality Engineering team including drive to continuous improvement procedures
  • Lead the introduction of new products or modification of products within assigned area using APQP and PPAP tools from development to launch
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective document system to include Engineering changes
  • Ensure Production Control is in place and followed
  • Lead compliance of initial releases and capability studies in machining and gage area
  • Lead Corrective action activities related to internal manufacturing processes
  • Understand and ensure compliance to all automotive standards, environmental standards and safety as required by company policies and procedures

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (masters preferred)  
  • 6-10+ years advanced experience
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office and Outlook software
  • Expert-level knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Quality Engineering
  • Extensive experience with quality audit procedures, quality systems, and statistical process control
  • Extensive experience with advanced product planning
  • Expert level knowledge of company products and services acquired through experience and training
  • Expert-level understanding of quality engineering techniques and principles
  • Project finance and/or budget planning experience
  • Must be able to travel-both domestic and foreign
