Engineer II- Customer Quality

We are looking for a new colleague to join the Quality Department at our location in Gray Court, SC. 

 

Position Summary: Undertake specified activities in managing the customer interface for all aspect of product quality. Direct customer contact as required. Generation of data as required for the process of reporting and communicating with internal and external customers up to director level on quality topics, customer satisfaction and key performance indicators. Maintain customer satisfaction in all aspects of quality through achievement of customer specified deliverables.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor manufacturing processes and assess product quality to determine adequacy, capability, and ability to comply with customer specifications and company’s specifications. 
  • Develop and maintain documents and procedures related to quality standards, risk analysis, lessons learned from product recalls, product audits, field returns and repairs, complaints, scrap, and rework, and retain documented information as evidence.
  • Interpret prints and measurement tools (GD&T).
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing personnel in the proper application of quality systems and tools.
  • Initiate, complete, and ensure proper conformity of engineering changes to quality standards.
  • Trigger additional escalation levels as needed to protect internal and external customer.
  • Support in the activity customer satisfaction through the achievement of all customer specified deliverables related to product quality.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of internal and customer KPI's relevant to customer quality and satisfaction.
  • Protect customers from escaped quality issues by operating the process of containment, sorting, corrective action and stop note activity.
  • Support the customer returned product process enabling correct routing and handling of product while minimizing effect of production.
  • Monitoring of product performance utilizing internal and external tracking tools to enable early warning detection of failure trends and emerging issues.
  • Determine root cause of failure from customer transmission returns and support in the quality and problem-solving activities to eliminate impact of non-conforming product on customers.
  • Support the customers warranty claim process and ensure correct technical adjudication of warranty returns.

 

Essential Skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. 
  • 3-4 years of related experience (Internship/ Co-Op experience included). 
  • Proven ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures. 
  • Advanced knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Engineering.
  • Experience with engineering change systems.

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • 1+ years in an automotive or other high paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a customer facing role.
  • Quality engineering/technician experience.
  • Good understanding of transmission/powertrain technology.
  • Recognized quality problem solving or quality engineering qualification.
