Job Description:

The V&V Test Engineer is responsible to lead validation activities of Seat Belt products in LaLaguna.

  • The Resident V&V Test Engineer will work with the Applications Engineering and Quality groups in LaLaguna to support testing on new programs, process changes for current production and prototypes.
  • The Resident V&V Test Engineer will work with the test lab to ensure that tests are performed according to specification requirements (Customer and/or ZF Internal test specs). The Resident V&V Engineer will confirm test setup, methods are consistent with other regions and communicate discrepancies to ZF V&V and Engineering Management.
  • The V&V Engineer will prepare validation plans and following up with the test lab to ensure that requirements are understood and that the required parts/fixtures and setup instructions are available to complete the tests according to the VP&R. The Global VP&R format and/or use of standard VP&R documents will be used when available. The Resident V&V Engineer will work with 26 Mile V&V and/or Application/Core Engineering to clarify any open issues/questions about the VP&R.
  • The V&V Engineer will verify that tested parts meet specification requirements and communicate test issues to the NA V&V Engineering group at 26 mile.  V&V will work with ZF Test Lab, Engineering and Customers to provide technical expertise in the resolution of issues identified during DV and PV testing. Open issues will be communicated to Management.
  • The Test Engineer will participate with the SET and Global Product Development teams during product development and launch phases of ZF Seatbelts that will be produced in LaLaguna.
  • The Resident V&V will participate in meeting with 26 Mile Engineering to provide input on fixture design, test setups, and build/test requirements.
  • The Resident V&V Engineer will prepare Engineering Test Requests (ETR) for Prototype, DV and PV testing that will be completed at the Reynosa and/or 26 mile test labs. The V&V Engineer will follow up with the responsible Launch Manager and/or Applications Engineer to confirm that sample parts are available and work with V&V Engineers in Reynosa and/or 26 mile to ensure that parts have been submitted to the lab and that tests are completed.
  • The Resident V&V Engineer is responsible to communicate test timing estimates and/or delays in test timing to the Application Team and 26 mile V&V Engineering.
  • V&V will review test results and update VP&R documents with data for use by the responsible Core and Application Engineers. The Resident V&V Engineer will provide support to the Application Engineers responsible for preparation and approval of the final Engineering Report.
  • The Test Engineer may be required to travel to external ZF-TRW and/or Customer Mfg/Test facilities in support of validation planning, test reporting, issue resolution ad training.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

Test Engineers should have 1 to 2 years experience in validation and testing of Safety Products and/or 1 to 2 years experience with seatbelt technologies. The Test Engineer must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to read and speak English fluently. The Test Engineer must be able to comprehend legal regulations and technical specifications relevant to seatbelt technologies. The Test Engineer is the technical expert on ZF-TRW Internal, and Customer specification requirements and test methods and must be able to effectively communicate these requirements to the product development team and responsible test labs.

Position Justification:

Test Engineers are necessary to ensure that ZF seatbelts are properly validated in accordance with regulatory requirements, ZF internal, and Customer specifications. Test Engineers ensure that ZF Global requirements regarding validation planning, approval, and test documentation are maintained. The Test Engineers are required to provide valuable support to the Product Development Team and SET during product development and program launch and the validation of manufacturing processes in LaLaguna.
