Position Summary:  

Performs activities to support the quality conformance of manufacturing components and assemblies.  This includes the setting up of equipment, performing inspection, basic use of GD&T, CMM inspection, sampling, audits, analytical tasks and proper processing of non-conforming material to ensure quality conformance is met. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic quality inspections using CMM, gages and other devices or equipment.
  • Perform incoming inspections, in-process inspections, dock audits, process audits and quality alerts.
  • Maintain traceability of parts by serial number by using bar code scanning equipment.
  • Use SAP for work lists, inspection plans, location movements, quality holds, scrap, and reporting.
  • Use of MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook to facilitate communication.
  • Initiate, perform and manage sorts, scrap material processing and production set ups.
  • Use basic GD&T knowledge to refer to blue prints to determine proper specifications for inspection.  (Datums, norms, etc). 
  • Maintain accurate records for poke yoke checks, process audits, dock audits, sort check list and Defective Material Notices to supply base.
  • Work closely with Process Quality Engineers (PQE), Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE), suppliers and coworkers for component quality improvements and root cause analysis (5 Why, 8D, etc).
  • Troubleshoot and support the proper maintenance and calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Strictly adheres to and supports company policies, safety regulations, quality processes and 5S initiatives.
  • Safely operate powered industrial trucks and overhead cranes.
  • Understand and comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949 requirements.
  • Performs special projects as requested and related tasks as needed.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule and work assignments.  This includes ability to rotate amongst multiple sites.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • Basic English language competency.
  • Knowledge of metrics.
  • Basic use of computers and MS Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • 2+ years of quality work experience including (but not limited to) operator Quality Checks.
  • Basic blueprint and GD&T knowledge.
  • Knowledge of basic quality tools such as hand gages, micrometers, calipers, etc.

 

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Exposure and/or experience with SAP.
  • Previous experience with CMM equipment.
