Product Design Intern- Winter 2023

Internship description:

 

This intern will gain real-world experience in mechanical design & manufacturing while working in a fast-paced, professional setting. This internship will involve the following tasks:

  • Assist engineering with pink book creation.
  • Review design drawings and technical specifications in support of pilot builds.
  • Pull stock of parts needed for prototype builds and safely store them until needed.
  • Maintain strong communication with application engineers to ensure timely delivery of parts and avoid potential conflicts.
  • Work with a group of manufacturing and Quality personnel to successfully build prototype parts for customers.
  • Participate in Quality measurements on prototype parts to ensure that all parts adhere to company specifications.
  • Pack and ship prototype parts to customers and/or to Germany for Lab validation.
  • Support functional requests – purchasing, quality, and manufacturing with engineering guidance. 
  • Assist engineering personnel with day-to-day tasks
  • Assist Quality as required for data collection, analysis, and results recording related to raw materials, intermediate products, finished goods, packaging materials and other samples.
  • Support engineering activities focused on product development process, issue tracking & troubleshooting, and status reporting.
  • Manage data through input, trending, and mathematical or statistical calculations. Assist in evaluating data and providing summary reports in written and graphical form.

 

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to write clear and concise reports
  • Able to complete tasks in an efficient, organized & accurate manner, and on time.
  • Willing to show initiative when given assignments
  • Able to work independently.
  • Has a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint applications.
  • Has experience working in group environment
  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand, sit, handle, or feel objects/tools.  The associate must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Environment:  While performing the duties of the job, the associate is exposed to an office atmosphere and manufacturing exposure.
