HSE Specialist II - Safety

Job Description

Position Summary:  The EHS Specialist supports the implementation of various programs and policies to create and enforce a culture of safety within all ZF Gainesville locations. Responsible for creating, conducting and coordinating all safety and environmental related training. Aid as a backup to EHS Supervisor regarding environmental programs and ability to manage Worker’s Compensation.

Position Responsibilities: 
•    Improve existing training programs to ensure material is up-to-date, accurate and conduct all required safety training for all new hires, contractors, and employees.
•    Maintain training plan and schedule for all employees, including make- up training to ensure 100% participation.
•    Utilize tracking tool (Aspire) to track training hours, completion, and attendance.
•    Provide weekly updates to EHS Supervisor on training and communicate any issues.
•    Maintenance of safety communication boards.
•    Assist with maintenance of program manuals.
•    Serve as a catalyst with the Plant Manager to drive employee Safety and Environmental Committees
•    Assist with developing employee safety incentive programs.
•    Responsible for first report of injury and Worker’s Compensation claim process.
•    Participate in internal and external audits.
•    Comply with all company and TS16949 policies and procedures.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or Environmental  
•    2 – 5+ years experience in EHS
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
•    Experience in delivering training at all levels of the organization
•    Knowledge of ISO 9001, TS 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and OSHAS 18001
•    Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated).
•    Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.
