Buyer II - Program

Position Summary:

The Program Buyer leads implementation of new projects, products, and initiatives across an assigned business unit. Responsible for sourcing initiation, building, and maintaining a capable supplier base, through effective supplier base selection in cooperation with Commodity Purchasing, ongoing performance, and development to support production/customer needs. Responsible for Quality, Delivery and Cost of Production Material to support early supplier involvement, project start-up, manufacturing operations and customer needs.

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Strategic and Operative Planning for a single Business Units within the Location.

• Annual material cost purchases from $1 mio to $15 mio

• Optimization of material costs within the assigned products / business unit

• Tracking of current and forecasted material costs for through the use of the VIN (Vendor Information Network) and PureC3

• Lead person for sourcing of new products / programs / major product enhancements / Cost reduction initiatives.  Scope includes product launch management and supplier readiness

• Bill of Material Management for product material costs incl. Target Cost development and achievement.  Includes tracking and documentation of change on a component and BOM level for direct material

• VE/VA (responsibility & coordination for material cost only)

• Specification of material & services.  Demand planning and determination (technical, volume, mile-stones, commercial, target costs, etc.)

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Minimum 3 to 6+ yrs experience in technical purchasing

• Experience with SAP, or other ERP systems

• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office tools
