We are looking for a motived and talented Functional Safety Engineer to join our Engineering Group and become an integral part of a multi-functional team that is at the forefront of the Commercial Vehicle industry.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Functional Safety Manager, product design and development teams to ensure ISO-26262 (Functional Safety) standards are implemented through projects lifecycles for mechatronic/electronic products.
  • Collaborate with the Functional Safety Manager to develop Functional Safety concepts, plans, and with obtaining road approvals for volume production.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in U.S. and Germany to develop an efficient approach to apply Functional Safety standards to our mechanical/electronic projects
  • Conduct change and problem analysis to refine, verify and report results of system safety requirements.  
  • Review and seek approval for safety case, safety plan road approval for volume production from Functional Safety Manager.
  • Conduct FMEA and FTA in support of development of the safety concept and safety strategy.
  • Transfer derived and refined safety requirements into a formal specification which will be mapped to and negotiated with customers to maximize re-use in Product Line.
  • Verification of suitable completion of Safety Case work products:  Checking interfaces, ensuring appropriate progress and verification of safety requirements.
  • Support project teams on process and methods elements of ISO-26262 across regions and locations.
  • Support Application Development team in development, planning and execution of validation testing.
  • Serve as main point of contact for customer staff and teams involved in Functional Safety: this typically involves periodic meetings at customer sites, and global telecoms to both customer and Business Unit globally distributed teams.
  • Support team with providing training material to bring staff up-to-speed with ISO-26262
  • Identify training gaps and needs related to functional safety methods and objectives through discussions with engineering management
  • Ensure compliance with the ZF Quality Management System requirements (ZF QMS) which includes IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering (Preferred in Electrical/Software/Mechanical Engineering)
  • 5+ of experience with strong functional/product knowledge in the areas of electronic systems and functional safety and an ability to train others
  • Excellent project and planning abilities
  • Superior interpersonal, communications and listening skills
  • Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to projects
  • A mix of hardware and software knowledge
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in application of Functional Safety Standard:  ISO-26262
