ZF Active Safety US Inc. has job openings (multiple) for the position of Lean/Continuous Improvement Specialist based out of its location in Fowlerville, MI.
Job Duties: Develop and maintain strategic plans for cost savings and continual improvement projects. Lead and actively participate in Lean Continuous Improvement (CI) workshops to promote continuous improvement. Actively promote and train employees on the basic concepts of Lean manufacturing. Lead and participate in plant cost savings projects and mentor employees working on cost saving/CI projects. Administer and monitor progress of Continuous Improvement System (CIS). Maintain database actions and monitor the progress of workshop activities. Involve DMAIC methods to develop robust manufacturing operations. Maintain OEE database for the facility and provide actions to improve focus and key cells. Lead the plant to LTP (Lean Transformation Plan) completion. Apply data driven and statistical techniques like six sigma to identify root cause and implement corrective actions. Leverage tools like SMED, 5S, Work Balance Charts, and Point of Use tools to help standardize work and drive efficiencies. Utilize supply chain management concepts to reduce inventory and WIP and establish Kanban system. Develop and implement digital tools like Microsoft PowerApps to reduce inefficiencies in the plant by eliminating paper-based processes. Create Dashboards in PowerBI to visualize the data and propose strategic solutions to reduce cost. Facilitate daily shop floor meetings, ensuring accurate data for cross functional departments. Validate 5S evaluation performed across the plant.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, plus 4 years of manufacturing experience in an engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, or specialist role, and demonstrated experience with: Lean concepts including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Cell Design; Management by Sight Visual Management, SMED, 7 Kinds of Waste, Kanban, TPM, and DMAIC; Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Power platform by developing complex, business critical apps using Power Apps, automate data flow using Power Automate, and create Power BI dashboards to visualize and drive business decisions; Deploying lean production in a manufacturing environment including changeover optimization, line balancing, and shopfloor management; Structured Query Language (SQL); Write queries to pull data and perform data analysis; Integrated Brake Control (IBC). Requires Six Sigma/Lean certification.
