Facilities Technician

This position will require the successful candidate to be able to complete full scope of operations in running and maintaining facilities systems with a focus on mechanical systems working knowledge of compressors, chillers, cooling towers, exhaust and HVAC equipment. While being able to work across various facilities disciplines.

 

Duties include but not limited to preventative and corrective maintenance activities while being able support factory rearrangement, construction activities at both the ZF Fowlerville and ZF Fenton locations. Must be available to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency “after hour” calls for both the ZF Fowlerville and ZF Fenton locations. Candidate must also cross-train in facilities operations and maintenance activities while providing excellent customer service for both locations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be a self-starting, motivated individual
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from plant employees, co-workers, managers and/or supervisors.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment on installation and repairs.
  • Work independently with remote support and direction
  • Performs daily p.m. work orders
  • Track vendor & daily progress through facility maintenance log
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Performs day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
  • Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair building assets to include HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, fire & life safety, roofs, chillers, cooling towers, furniture, and equipment.
  • Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing lamps and ballasts. Maintains exterior components including debris removal from roof and loading docks drains.
  • Electrical Maintenance: ability to read schematics, understand/troubleshoot motor control circuits, from low voltage to 480V, 3-phase
  • Must be able to work shifts as assigned such as weekends, holidays and mandatory overtime
  • Follows all work safety policies and guidelines
  • Accountable to maintain punctual and regular attendance for scheduled work hours
  • Performs additional job duties as requested

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prefer 3-5 years of industrial facility maintenance experience OR 4 yrs. minimum experience in a skilled trade position, with a State of Michigan issued License. (or equivalent)
  • Must be experienced with fall protection and proper L.O.T.O procedures
  • Must be able to use and operate fork trucks, scissor lifts to perform job requirements
  • Must role model safety as a value and adhere to stringent environmental compliance culture.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to excel as an individual contributor and part of a team and work effectively across multiple facilities operations disciplines.

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES:

  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • License / Certification in one or more of the following, is preferred but not required: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration.


 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking (at least 8 hours per day)
  • Ability to work in loud, Hot or Cold environments for prolonged periods
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50 pounds or more) squatting, twisting, reaching overhead and below knees
  • Must be able to repeatedly climb stairs and vertical ladder’s
  • Use repetitive motions using upper and lower extremities, mount and dismount equipment on a continual basis.
