ZF Active Safety US Inc. has job openings (multiple) for the position of Principal Program Buyer based out of its location in Farmington Hills, MI.

Job Duties:  Assist with worldwide supply base and develop cost saving methods and opportunities in order to promote overall business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness (i.e. through VA/VE methods, quoting, independent negotiations, etc.); Analyze global supply base to prepare and recommend suppliers to be added/removed from the approved supplier list as well as nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier List; Perform market research and monitor changes/trends for purposes of benchmarking and cost controlling; Develop production material strategy based on divisional targets and requirements; Communicate with supply base both regarding business unit and company initiatives; Participate in costs discussions and supplier negotiations, while and maintaining agreements with suppliers; Lead in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts; Implement commodity or part family strategies for multiple manufacturing regions; Manage all suppliers requests for change as they effect the portfolio to include performing research into effected parts and identify potential post production service obligations that need to be met; Ensure resilient and uninterrupted supply chains for all suppliers change requests; Ensure any supplier change request is vetted through quality, engineering and SDE teams to ensure part is acceptable for production; Ensure all suppliers change requests are tracked in the internal team database and implemented according to plan; Work with all manufacturing plants to coordinate timing of implementation of changed parts; Ensure suppliers are sourced on time through the sourcing process and are PPAP’d on time according to the GDPEP process; and Provide purchasing deliverables throughout the GDPEP process to the program team. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available.

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related field, plus 5 years of experience in a professional purchasing occupations (technical/commodity purchasing, purchasing project management, purchasing management), and demonstrated experience with: Analysis and evaluation of suppliers; Support supplier bidding process through cost analysis of components; APQP for GDPEP process using SupplyOn; BOM for project costs reports to management; Cross-functional teams to problem solve supply chain issues, including lack of continuity of supply; ERP systems, including SAP for materials management; VAVE for existing series production BOM; Power BI to create dashboards for data reporting; Six Sigma.
