ZF Active Safety and Electronics US, LLC has job openings (multiple) for the position of Engineer III - Electronics based out of its location in Farmington Hills, MI.
Job Duties: Accumulate and document the corporate product requirements related to a specific type of sensor. Support ZF purchasing group for supplier sourcing activities including generating an updated statement of work, performing requirements versus capability analysis for a supplier offering, and summarizing a risk analysis assessment of the supplier as necessary. Generate the master development timing schedule and plan based upon supplier committed timing, development deliverables, and stakeholder required milestones. Generate and facilitate the execution of a sensor characterization test plan. Lead reviews of the characterization test results. Generate a Circuit Design Document instructing the users how to use the component. Generate and release a component specification within the ZF system. Facilitate and oversee supplier execution of the ZF silicon development process milestones including: Detailed data sheet reviews; Detailed MEMS, ASIC, and Package design reviews; DFMEA reviews; FuSa and safety manual reviews; Supplier process readiness reviews; Supplier AEC-Q100 qualification and characterization test results reviews. Coordinate with the functional safety engineer to evaluate the necessary analysis and activities according to the ISO26262 standard. Support ZF supplier development engineering during supplier manufacturing process reviews and final PPAP approval. Report development status to internal ZF stakeholders and customers as necessary. Oversee any development issues or failure analysis activities that occur during the development cycle. Support ZF production or field quality issues that arise for sensor components as necessary. Support all ZF quality or process improvement activities as necessary. Mentor and support less experienced team members where necessary. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. 10% domestic travel to customer/supplier sites for product development.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Electric Engineering, or a closely related field, plus 2 years of experience in automotive electronic product or sensor development, and demonstrated experience with: Electronic circuit analysis; Demonstrated capability of executing a development project including MEMS and sensor-based technology and analysis; Authoring technical engineering specifications, test report generation, and analytical reporting for manufacturing quality and assessments; Problem solving methods, including 8D, 5Y, Ishikawa diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA); Active manufacturing processes, including, controls, optimization, and monitors including optical, mechanical, and electrical inspection methods; DFMEA; SPICE including Cadence Virtuoso, and digital design tool like Quartus FPGA; Laboratory test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, and digital multi meters; Matlab or Mathcad to analyze sensor or electronics development testing results or device behavioral modeling; and SPC methods and tools for manufacturing process evaluation.
