Validation Engineer

ZF is a leading developer and innovator in the rapidly growing field of Driver Assist Systems (DAS).  These camera- and radar-based technologies assist drivers by providing information and acting on environmental data at the front, side and rear of vehicles to help warn drivers of impending danger. They can also provide intuitive cues or actions such as braking and steering inputs to help “coach” the driver to stay in lane or offer convenience functions like Adaptive Cruise Control.

This position is responsible for the System Validation and Integration level validation tasks of Camera systems for passenger vehicles within the DAS Business Unit. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Writing Tests cases against Requirements Specifications using Functional Safety Test techniques
  • Execute test cases per the test specification
  • Automation of Test cases using automation test frame
  • Perform tasks assigned by the team lead or Supervisor.
  • Working with Internally developed tools
  • Perform data collection and vehicle test activities in the project
  • Setup test infrastructure together with Project Team Members according to agreed validation plan and overall organization test strategy at vehicle and bench level.
  • Generate metrics and reports to monitor project status.
  • Support debugging and building of our internal tools
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues using test set-up
  • Perform software updates on DUT (Devices Under Test) as needed
  • Perform ECU test activities at bench and vehicle level and provide results to stake holders for review
  • Document internal/customer issues and engage the appropriate team
  • Managing Risk/Action List / Meeting Minutes

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of automotive systems validation engineering experience
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience on writing test scenarios based on ISO 26262 functional safety test techniques
  • 2+ years of test automation scripting (e.g. Python, CAPL, C etc.)
  • 1+ years of working experience on Vector or similar tools
  • 2+ years of working experience with automotive protocols e.g. CAN, LIN, xCP etc.
  • Working experience on automotive diagnostics protocols like UDS, KWP 2000 etc.
  • Able to debug vehicle issues and setup the test vehicle
  • Good communication skills within the team, internal & external customers a must
  • Must be willing to travel domestic/international locations to support internal and external customers and vehicle tests
  • Must be willing to work over 40 hours on nights and weekends at different environmental conditions (e.g. Sunny, Cold, Snow, Rain etc..) when required
  • Able to work in a regional and global team environment and be flexible with changing priorities
  • Able to multi­task to meet project timing (time management skills)
  • Proficient with Vector and automation test Tools
  • Work independently with little to no supervision to meet tight deadlines
  • Logical problem solver; good attention to detail
  • Proficient in English oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering required. Masters degree is preferred.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience on test automation for automotive Electronic Controller Units
  • Expert in C or any other scripting language
  • Strong evidence of success problems solving and troubleshooting
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience on Camera and Radar technologies
  • Working experience on OxTS RT/RT Range or similar tools
  • Working experience on 4a/AB Dynamics Pedestrian or similar equipment
