We are seeking a new colleague to join our ADAS & Electronics team in Farmington Hills, MI!


Responsibilities

 

  • This position is responsible for DAS Camera Optics and imaging technical leadership (including process management, and product development).
  • Through frequent interactions with the global ZF team, you will be actively involved in strategic discussions & workshops to develop and define project and product strategies that meet the challenges of current & future ADAS & AD performance expectations.
  • Working closely with customer teams and OEMs, you will share your expertise and knowledge through face-to-face discussions and presentations targeted to deliver a clear, concise and effective message of technical innovation, quality and scalability for the entire portfolio of camera and image processing products.
  • Working closely with optics team and development team, you will:
    • Lead and support Optical Design activities, including development of new camera optical paths, optical simulations, FOV studies with customers, packaging/placement studies, supplier development, and support all camera Innovation, Core & Application optical design activities.
      • Optical path recommendations
      • Image sensor + lens pair recommendations
      • Lens design
      • Active focus process
      • Lead camera MTF testing strategies
      • Lead/support active alignment activities/strategies with equipment suppliers
      • Lead/support Optical Test Requirements Documentation (Optical TRDs)
    • Support DAS Camera product/strategy development and execution.
    • Interface with cross-functional team to ensure optical design meets all functional, re-use across applications, focus process yield and dual source requirements.
    • Be technical lead and escalation path for critical issue resolution encountered during core and application program developments.
    • Be responsible for performing gap analysis of customer requirements and core optical design to negotiate requirements and technical justification for ZF camera during new business pursuits.
    • Support cost reduction activities for optical components across all product lines
    • Support minimizing Bill of Material/manufacturing scrap cost, ensuing robust focus and assembly process.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 12 or more years of experience in an engineering/technical field leading opto-electronics development required.
  • 15 years or more years of experience in the field is preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge of complex optical systems (multi-element lens systems)
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Masters Degree and/or PhD is preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of optical design tools (ZEMAX, CodeV, etc)
  • Knowledge of engineering review methods
  • Knowledge of image sensor technologies
  • Knowledge of VIS/IR cameras
  • Demonstrated ability to breakdown large complex problems, structured problem solving and to provide multiple resolution paths
  • Understand automotive customer requirements, project milestones, and technology relevance and capability
  • Familiar with Matlab and/or C/C++/Python programming
  • Microsoft suite skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of the cross-functional team across all levels
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents
  • Highly motivated and disciplined in time management
  • Capability to use lab tools and equipment
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
