Sr Electrical Engineering Manager

We are looking for a new colleague in the Passive Safety Engineering Department at our location in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

 

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for all aspects of an airbag ECU and sensor application development for a Japanese OEM.  This involves management and coordination of a matrixed multi-disciplined team including hardware, software, algorithm, components, sensors, functional safety, mechanical, and PCB design.  Team members will be comprised of direct line and dotted line reporting relationships. The role will require management and leadership of a global team which has distributed work packages and customer interfaces.  Significant customer interface is required to ensure deliverables meet the customer expectations and ansure an escalation path exists to resolve any concerns.  Successful project development will be measured by timeliness of the development, quality of the product development, flawless launch, meeting the project budget, and ultimately customer satisfaction.

 

Management and responsibility of global teams required to develop application programs and present/influence ZF passive safety technology strategies to influence JOEM product development roadmaps. Provide overall direction and enforcement of ZF GDPEP application process. Interface with global/regional sales leads to facilitate business development and resolution of application program commercial issues. Interface and support global central quality leads as well as ZF manufacturing quality personnel to support 0-mileage and warranty investigations, corrective actions, and overall performance improvements.

 

This role will provide overall technical leadership for the application development.  Product strategies to be developed utilizing core and component development workstreams to ensure the product roadmap will meet the customers’ expectations.

 

Qualifications

  • Technical expert and system lead architect/hardware engineer supporting OEM engagements and internal discussions of future growth.
  • Ability to lead/support strategic initiative definition to deliver the next generation electric control unit.
  • 20 or more years of experience in an engineering/technical field leading electronics development is required.
  • 15 years or more of experience in the automotive electronics field -specific experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering is required, Masters in Electrical Engineering is preferred
