Job Summary:

The Semiconductor Functional Safety Engineer position in ZF TRW Global Electronics Engineering reports to the Engineering Manager responsible for Functional Safety in our Technology Strategy & Core Electronics group, our global team responsible for worldwide development of microcontroller and ASICs.

 

You will be responsible for ensuring that large scale integrated circuits such as micros, ASICs, memory devices, and imagers for use in Electronics Stability Control, Passive Safety, Electric Power Steering, and ADAS systems (including Radar, Camera, and Autonomous Driving) are developed according to ISO26262.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define system safety architectures with focus on microcontrollers, memory, and ASICs
  • Develop component level functional safety requirements for semiconductors used in active and passive systems.
  • Develop safety work plans and ensure timely completion of deliverables from suppliers
  • Develop and negotiate Development Interface Agreements (DIA) with suppliers
  • Analyze the component Failure Modes, Effect, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) from the supplier and ensure it meets the product safety requirements.
  • Ensure the supplier safety manual for components are complete and then document the safety requirements contained for the application system designers.
  • Ensure verification of micros, memory, and ASICs against safety requirements
  • Present and defend ZF safety concept and process to customers and auditors
  • Apply best practices across product lines
  • Implement and maintain a world-class global functional safety process for semiconductor components.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Systems, Computer, or Software Engineering required.  Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years working at Tier 1 or 2 supplier or OEM with knowledge of the functional safety standard ISO 26262 and experience in its practical application in product development
  • Experience in electronics/ systems/software design and development
  • Experience in microcontroller or mixed signal ASIC development, design is desired
  • Ability to work effectively from remote location in a global organization structure
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English language
  • Highly self motivated and able to work with little direct oversight in a collaborative environment
  • Strong program management and communication/networking skills
  • Experience managing subcontracted engineering resources (e.g. for analysis and verification work)
