Business Hunting Engineering Project Manager

The Business Hunting Engineering Project Manager (EPM) represents engineering as a member of the acquisition team during the entire acquisition phase (pre-RFQ, RFI RFQ). The EPM is responsible for managing the technical proposal and effort definition ADAS/AD development projects for global customers. The role requires deep technical understanding of product and technology characteristic of our products, understands our roadmaps and product strategy, and acts as product expert during acquisition phases for various customers.

The Business Hunting EPM works with the quote team to analyze the requirements coming from customers and matches these requirements towards our roadmaps to understand optimal product / technology offering to the customer. EPM participates in innovation and concepts phases, ensures a requirements analysis and defines the baseline for our technical offerings and creates ER&D estimations for the offered development in strong alignment with Core and Customer Engineering teams.
During concept and acquisition phases the Business Hunting EPM is in direct interface to the customer. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate and coordinate the technical activities with a global ZF development team - in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific as well as coordinate activities directly with customers.
  • Meet with internal stakeholders and customers face-to-face to review pricing and engineering requirements to ensure needs are being met
  • Directly report to the business hunting engineering manager on technical and commercial aspects of development activities of running projects.
  • Comply with established company business pursuit policies, pricing/effort guidelines, and best practices.
  • Coordinate internal resources to execute business objectives.
  • Manage complete business pursuit cycle from initial engagement through project award.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical / Computer / Mechanical / Industrial / Systems Engineering, or a related field of study
  • At least 7 years of relevant business development and/or product development experience, preferably in the ADAS and autonomous driving market.
  • Experience in development of ADAS and AD systems, including camera, radar, lidar, domain ECUs, and algorithms.
  • Knowledge in microprocessor, automotive ECU, electrical / electronic hardware, embedded software
  • Knowledge in current and upcoming advanced driver assistance systems (for example, LKA, LCC, ACC, LDW, FCW, AEB, self-parking systems)
  • Knowledge of systems, hardware, algorithm, and software architecture, design, and validation principles
  • Proficient in translating business requirements to technical requirements
  • Ability to function in a matrixed, team organization with minimal supervision
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and effectively (planning, organizing, and attention to details)
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize day-to-day responsibilities
  • Exceptional written/oral English skills and the demonstrated ability to draft detailed and clear quotations and proposals to customers
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work load and scope

 

Preferred

  • Masters in related field of study or business administration
  • Knowledge in computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and simulation
  • Thorough knowledge of radar development, including RF modulation, MIMO architecture, digital beam forming, doppler and micro-doppler effects.
  • Deep understanding of FFT transformation and signal processing.
  • Hand-on experience in sensor development, from hardware design and manufacturing through control algorithm testing.
  • Automotive ECU development experience, including but not limited to hardware design, microprocessor selection, system configuration, thermal management, and sensor interfaces.
