RESPONSIBILITY
- Lead engineer in launching new remanufacturing at ZF Charleston location. Includes development of reman validation, processes, equipment, and tooling needs for business case.
- Lead engineer for increasing component salvage programs for reman air compressors and reman Volvo I-shift units in ZF Charleston location. Includes collaboration and support with other reman operations.
- Creation of remanufacturing processes for all mechanical and electro-mechanical products (may be in conjunction with electrical engineer).
- Support of development of customer provided new build product processes for all mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
- Performs all design functions for developing reman processes of mechanical and electro-mechanical products (may be in conjunction with electrical engineer).
- Creation of project specific documentation, such as, test specifications, drawings, test (software) programs, and PFMEA.
- Support the production engineer in the development of work instructions, specialized process equipment and tools needed for process.
- Support the program manager in the development of customer quotations.
- Responsible for solving urgent and complex problems and evaluating alternatives.
- Translates customer requirements into design solutions.
- Defines and implements best practices.
- Advice and technical opinion solicited by program, customer, and/or member of own or other departments.
- Completes project goals and monitors status within the framework of overall program goals.
- Evaluates opportunities within technical specialty.
- Establish fail-safe work methods resulting from the FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) process

MINIUMUM KNOWLEDGE AND BACKGROUND REQUIRMENTS
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or other related field required
- 4 years of practical work experience in a related field required
- Experience in remanufacturing preferred
- Must have experience with mechanical and electrical-mechanical, systems
- Complex problem solving and troubleshooting ability preferred
- Familiarity with 6 Sigma methodologies preferred
- CAD drawing experience preferred (Creo experience preferred)
- Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal (including presentation skills) preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Software preferred
- Proficient with managing and meeting project deadlines preferred
- Experience in an automotive industry helpful preferred
- Operates with minimal direction preferred
