PITS Consultant - Production IT Security

Position Summary:

The PITS Consultant  – Production IT Security (PITS) is responsible for providing technical guidance and manufacturing expertise in the strategic development and implementation of global production / shopfloor IT security concepts, techniques, methodologies, and initiatives, in order to achieve optimized protection processes for plant IT systems and production data as well as ensuring 100% availability of production IT environments.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise through the strategic planning and implementation of Production IT security methods and processes at plants; serve as an internal consultant for services provided by PITS in the topics Whitelisting, Backup & Recovery, Remote Support, Patch Management, ….
  • Develop and deliver Production IT security awareness training at production facilities to local IT and maintenance teams.
  • Plan and execute assessments/audits, agree to-do lists and track the implementation.
  • Visit plants, mainly in America, to identify current and future Production IT security needs and interests by performing internal audits of Production IT security systems, processes, methods, policies, and practices.
  • Train internal customers on standard/approved Production IT Security tools and processes; conduct workshops as necessary to field internal issues and raise awareness of proven processes/work methods.
  • Collaborate in Corporate Production projects in implementation of production IT network security provisions/firewalls to protect complex manufacturing processes/data.
  • Provide high-level technical support to other Production IT tools in the region as requested.
  • Work in a matrix management environment in coordination with disciplinary and functional leadership in order to fulfill regional and global objectives with regards to group-wide IT security concepts for production systems, equipment, applications, and networks.
  • Serve as a technical lead for second-level support issues regarding Production IT Security protection provided by the PITS; provide operational support as necessary.
  • Provide regular customer follow-up and feedback to business process/IT application owners for Production IT Security systems, projects, and processes; roll-out existing processes to protect the interests of customers.
  • Lead and participate in field studies/market research to analyze/evaluate potential and frequent Production IT security threats; coordinate the development of countermeasures on a global and regional scale.
  • Evaluate and recommend Production IT solutions aligned with ZF standards and IT security considerations.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with ZF corporate IT standard processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Develop working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience as a maintenance/mechanical engineer and/or in an IT security-related function
  • 2+ years of experience with project supervision in one or more of the following areas: production IT infrastructure, IT security, IT networking/firewall, manufacturing planning/engineering, operations research/analytics, and/or operations management
  • Experience providing customer support and resolution regarding complex technical issues
  • Deep knowledge of IT security mechanisms, machine control, and industrial networks/bus technologies
  • Working knowledge of current security and safety regulations
  • Working knowledge of the technical interface between IT and operations
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production-related data
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Proven analytical abilities in addition to strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Strong communication skills with a proven record of customer/supplier relationship management
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others in a project management capacity/role
  • Strong organizational and time/project management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to influence and engage at multiple levels within internal and external organizations
  • English language competency – both verbal and written
  • Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 50%)

 

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Experience in business process management and/or data warehouse management
  • Knowledge of machine programming, DNC operation, in addition to MES and anti-virus programs
  • Knowledge of 5S and Six Sigma problem-solving methodology
  • 4+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing IT, specifically in the Automotive industry
  • 1+ years of experience with organizational management and project management
  • German or another 2nd Language Skills
