Job Description - ZF Steering

Position title: Quality Specialist

Department: Quality

Reports to:    Division Production Quality Manager

Position Responsibilities:

• The Quality Specialist will be responsible for the management and effective implementation of the customer APQP process as a member of new program launch teams.  (GDPEP gate reviews, Clarity AQP plans, etc).
• Manages BOM for PPAP approval.
• Primary interface with customer related to Advance Product Quality Planning activities.
• Keeps customer informed on the program status related to quality.
• Ensure that customer specific requirements are cascaded into ZF and supplier’s processes and procedures
• Work with launch teams and manufacturing to develop key characteristics with suppliers. and ZF processes.
• Manage SupplyOn PPAP function related to internal supplier components
• Understanding for interdepartmental function is essential to ensure that new program quality objectives are met and requires both administrative and technical knowledge with frequent interactions with employees and customers.
• Conducts manufacturing launch readiness reviews including Mistake Proofing audits, Line Walk audits, Reverse pFMEA audits and 11 colors audits.
• Facilitate post launch corrective actions for customer issues (NCT’s, BSAQ’s, PRR, etc.)

Other special tasks and assignments related to Quality and customer satisfaction will be assigned to this function as needed.  (Launch Readiness Tracker, Operations Launch Dashboard, Lessons Learned, etc. )

Qualifications:

Education:     BS Degree in Engineering or related Technical field preferred.

Experience:   Five plus years of quality work experience is preferred.

Requires practical knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning Systems.

Working knowledge of manufacturing, testing, and inspection procedures    is highly desirable.

A strong background in problem solving and statistics is required.  Six Sigma Greenbelt status preferred.

Additional Skills, Knowledge or Abilities (non-physical):

1. English verbal and written communication skills
2. Willingness to travel both foreign and domestic
3. Knowledge of IATF 16949 and VDA.
4. Understanding of Quality Core Tools (MSA, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, APQP)
5. Knowledge of AIAG requirements
6. Knowledge of Critical to Quality concepts

Additional Skills, Knowledge or Abilities (physical)

1. Physical stamina to work overtime hours consecutively
2. Hearing proficiency
