Production Supervisor (B Shift)

About the team:

The Production Supervisor will be working alongside nearly 80 colleagues in our Duncan, South Carolina location. This team focuses on the production of our rear and front axles. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and supervising production personnel utilizing procedures and work instructions to meet or exceed customer and company requirements for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. You will ensure training; scheduling & administration of production employees is up to ZF's standards. You will also be responsible for performance reviews, including recommendations for monetary changes and corrective action functions. This is a B Shift position and operates around the hours of 5:30pm EST to 6:30am EST Sundays through Thursdays. (hours and days may vary).

  • Understand production processes, requirements, prioritize & make decisions to meet production, quality & delivery goals. 
  • Supervise and train production employees for growth and development by ensuring employees are qualified and trained to the proper procedures, policies & standards in assigned position.
  • Direct production by regulating, coordinating, planning, assigning, resolving problems, disciplinary action, and assuring compliance with company safety, work procedures/standards & housekeeping.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of team leaders and employees through constructive feedback (e.g. written reviews, corrective counseling, etc.), support to meet expectations, maintain open door communication, and promote an issue free environment.
  • Represents the team by reviewing and relying important information, make necessary inquires to expedite projects in areas (such as manpower, process changes/problems, etc.), manage and assist team/department to achieve goals and process information (productivity, scrap, accident reduction, etc).
  • Facilitate team meetings (communication, safety, quality, etc.) using problem solving techniques, maintain minutes, and follow-up on action plans to direct production operations and department to be in compliance with all company, division and customer quality requirements.
  • Promote efficient production methods by assuring work instructions, standards and all required documentation are in place as well as initiate and direct procedures to increase company quality and output.
  • Analyze operations, overseeing new job assignments, analyze machine/equipment malfunctions and make necessary adjustments where needed.
  • Report results of the shift in a specific and complete manner (e.g. time and reporting employee hours, machine malfunctions, etc.) to promote shift to shift communication.
  • Support production by performing production associate functions as necessary.
  • Compliance with all Internal and External Production Quality Management Systems

 

Your profile:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2-4+ years related experience
  • Proven leadership ability, strong people skills (coaching, mentoring, motivation, communication, problem resolution).
  • Understanding of Lean principles and responsibilities.
  • Understands the application, tracking, utilization, and purpose of KPI’s.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (MS office).
  • Availability and flexibility schedule (e.g. weekends) to meet customer requirements

 

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Associate’s degree in related field.
  • Strong skills and work experience in lean manufacturing (ZFPS, TPS, 5S, Continuous improvement).
  • Experience with SAP, MS Project, other project management and statistical analysis software.
  • Experience with line start up and product ramp up.
