About the Team
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Production Axle Systems, the Engineering Manager collaborates closely with maintenance technicians, team leaders, engineers, and other plant personnel to analyze process issues and troubleshoot equipment problems, ensuring smooth and efficient operations on the production floor.
What you can look forward to as the Engineering Manager:
- Managing and directing technical matters, program costs, sufficient labor, timing and related targets to ensure successful development, testing and/or launch of production installations or enhancements.
- Leading team to continuously improve/upgrade equipment using six sigma/lean principles, and partner with leaders in region to identify inefficiencies and provide recommended solutions
- Researching solutions and provide cost calculations, provide leadership with KPIs, and make changes to enhance the machine functionality of the equipment..
- Analyzing and planning work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Determining product specifications for the purchase of equipment, materials or parts, according to specifications and quality standards.
- Overseeing the implementation of the equipment on the floor from delivery to hand off to production, and estimating production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Collaborating with management, designing and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Estimating, future manufacturing requirements and potential, help to ensure that the quality of the product produced meets all customer requirements.
- Leading projects for existing production and new programs using APQP and Lean principles to meet timing and budget as well as performance, and complying with all Internal and External Production Quality Management Systems and Group Directives
- Other Duties as related to this position.
Your Profile as the Engineering Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 12+ years of relevant engineering experience in an automotive environment
- Prior experience in assembly/manufacturing environment, plant layout, cost analyst, budgeting, blueprint reading, pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft and CAD software.
- Capable of making sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Excellent communications capabilities with both verbal and written means.
- A working knowledge of statistical methods and SPC charts.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
