SCALAR is looking for a talented Engineering Manager (m/f/d) to join our team in building our platform. Help us create modern, optimized, state-of-the-art customer experiences. You will lead a team of engineers, designers, and product owners to build modern services and evolve data-intensive applications for the transportation industry.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and support a team of individual contributors, ensuring they have the resources to build our modern platform and grow their careers.
• Act as the link between your team and the broader organization, improving communication and addressing inefficiencies.
• Maintain high standards for quality, manage expectations, and shape our engineering practices and culture.
• Engage in technical and architectural discussions while keeping a comprehensive view of the platform's integration.
• Oversee hiring, promotions, and performance management in collaboration with HR and engineering leadership.

Your ideal profile

• Proven background in engineering, design, or product within a software context, with experience leading engineering teams.
• Expertise in data-intensive, modern architecture (backend or frontend) with a solid understanding of SaaS and cloud product challenges and tradeoffs.
• Excellent communication skills, adept at working in a remote-first environment and managing the challenges of a distributed organization across different time zones.
• Previous experience in tech lead, management, or team lead roles, guiding individual contributors such as engineers, designers, or product professionals.
• Typically 10+ years in the software industry, valuing the quality of experience over the number of years, with an engineering or architecture background and fluency in JavaScript and/or C
