Semiconductor Functional Safety Engineer

By joining the ZF Core Technology Team as the Semiconductor Functional Safety Engineer you will be an integral part of a group setting automotive functional safety requirements for a range of products from ZF’s Global Electronics division, with a great opportunity to develop market leading solutions in a dynamic, multi-project, multi-disciplined environment and to build/ strengthen your professional career.

 

Your Tasks:
•    Define system safety architectures with focus on microcontrollers, memory, and ASICs
•    Develop component level functional safety requirements for semiconductors in active and passive systems
•    Ensure verification of micros, memory, and ASICs against safety requirements;
•    Work closely with suppliers with focus on
o    Development Interface Agreements (DIA)
o    Failure Modes, Effect, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) meet the product safety requirements
o    Components safety manuals completeness
o    Deliverables timely completed
•    Document the safety requirements contained for the application system designers
•    Present and defend ZF safety concept and process to customers and auditors

 

Essential Skills and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or related required. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
•    Experience in electronics/ systems/ software design and development with desired experience in microcontrollers or mixed signal ASICs development
•    3+ years working at Tier 1 or 2 supplier or OEM with knowledge of the functional safety standard ISO 26262 and experience in its practical application will be an advantage
•    Highly self-motivated, strong program management and communication/ networking skills, able to work with little direct oversight in a collaborative environment
•    Experience managing subcontracted engineering resources (e.g. for analysis and verification work) will be an advantage
•    Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English language
