Position: Chihuahua Application Engineer (DAB / SW) – Engineer III
General Responsibilities & Duties:
- Design, validate, and release steering wheel and driver airbag air bag product designs in accordance with the ZF Global Development Process (GDPIM)
- Create and release accurate engineering documentation into ZF North American systems used in design and production including CR’s (ERD), BOM’s, DFMEA’s and DVP&R’s in a timely manner.
- Establish and manage detail engineering development timing to support program deliverables
- Lead problem root cause analysis and development of DFMEA’s
- Lead design validation (DV) and production validation (PV) including development of required design changes
- Lead technical member of ZF Simultaneous Engineering Team (SET) and customer Product Development Team
- Lead technical communication with customer engineering and plants and ZF CUU plants.
- Support implementation of VA changes
- Support supplier selection process, design reviews, tool designs, process changes and PPAP requirements as needed
- Lead and resolve chronic issues that require repeated deviations or cause inefficiencies or high scrap in the plant
- Assist 26mile Application Engineers with information requests and investigations requiring SWS plant support
- Lead fabrication, ordering and follow on-time delivery of prototype samples including requirements (e.g. video record every fold) to ensure a quality and timely build to meet the requested due dates with zero returns/rejects. (Ford GPIRS)
- Provide a safe work atmosphere by reporting at risk behaviors and/or unsafe conditions to management, HR or HS&E. Possibly participate in a HS&E workshop/project (Energy Reduction or waste reduction activities).
- Work on and support selected task force projects e.g. CTQ on PAB bag folding and MFG process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering
- 8+ years of engineering design experience that may include systems performance, sheet metal design, plastic molding design & application, fastener design & application
- Analytical capabilities (e.g. CAE, GD&T, DFMEA, PFMEA, Six Sigma, DOE)
- Excellent communications skills including technical writing skills
- Fluent in English and Spanish language
- Ability to interface well with technical staff and functional department personnel
- Good customer relations skills
