Position Title: Application Engineer
BUSINESS UNIT : Product Engineering
REPORTING TO: Product Engineering, Team Leader

SCOPE AND IMPACT OF POSITION ON THE ORGANIZATION:
Drive all necessary actions to assure that WABCO devices and systems are selected and configured according to customer requirements and applied appropriately in customer vehicles.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Requirements elicitation and specification mapping
· Collect technical customer requirements, specifications and associated documents
· Compare customer requirements and specifications with WABCO specifications,
identify mapping specifications and deviations
· Provide proposal for WABCO product matching customer requirements, resolve
deviations in consultation with product group engineer and customer, accomplish
acceptance of deviations
· Create change request for non-acceptable deviations including breakdown of
customer requirements
· Product layout and configuration
· Select / design / calculate product layout for customer application
· Consolidate / prepare product documentation (Drawings, schematics, plumbing/wiring
diagrams, DMU’s, specifications, bill of material etc.)
· Configure product according to customer needs (e.g. parameter setting)
· Application validation and release
· Check component installation and system environment in the vehicle
· Startup system in the vehicle, run through initialization procedure
· Check system functions in the vehicle
· Adapt parameter setting where required
· Homologate or support customer to homologate according to national and
international regulations as appropriate
· Carry out tests on special customer demand (e.g. system performance
demonstration)
· Provide test report
· Train and instruct customer on product features, end-of-line process and
requirements etc.
· Get technical approval of application from the customer
· Provide technical release of application

EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in Product Engineering in the automotive industry,
· Preferably in vehicle function development or vehicle testing

PROFILE:
· Degree in EEE / ECE / Mechatronic / Automobile Engineering
· Good knowledge about vehicles, sub-systems and operating environment
· Good experience in vehicle homologation / testing
· Good knowledge in diagnostics (K line & UDS on CAN), CAN protocol, instrumentation and data acquisition systems
· Capable of test driving (CV driver’s license, qualified test driver)
· Fluent in English
· Ability to work with Digital Mock Ups - Interface checking and fouling checking

OUTPUT:
· Specified standard application and homologation procedures
· Customer application release (e.g. for new customer or new product at existing customer)
· Homologation test report
· Customer training on product features, application, end-of-line handling etc.
· Response to technical questions of customers
· Support of other WABCO functions (e.g. Key Account Teams) for technical explanations
and demonstrations to customers
· Feedback of technical customer requirements into product development organization

METRICS:
· Application checklist completed
· Customer sign-off received
· Homologation test passed
· Customer able to equip his vehicles with WABCO product in his production line
