Position Summary:  
The Non-Production Material (NPM) Operational Buyer is responsible for purchasing indirect materials and services within one or more specific plant locations and/or for dedicated commodities North America Operations NAO-wide using a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the Central HUB Organization and collaborating with ZF Commodity team.  

Position Responsibilities: 

•  Position relies on experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish savings goals.
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotes, and presents Sourcing projects. Cost details oriented a must.
• Follow ZF Purchasing & all ZF Policies (training provided). 
• Work closely with involved departments (specification, scope of work, approvals, lead times, etc.)
• Assist in driving optimizing delivery and inventory systems.  
• Define and negotiate supplies, warranty agreements, and other contractual/legal items as required.
• Communicate with managers & employees at respective locations and other NAO sites, NPM Buyers within the NAO organization, and global and local Commodity Managers in assigned commodities
• Maintain status reports in Microsoft EXCEL or other reporting tools to document progress of procurement activities.
• Drive continuous improvements of processes in collaboration with the NPM Manager and departments involved.
• May provide guidance for other Junior- or NPM-Buyer(s) supporting daily operations.
• Lead teams in implementation of new vendors, plants or process roll-out as needed.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational training. 
• Serve as Trainer to others within NPM or Plant domain functions as related to ZF Purchasing

                                                                   
Essential Skills and Experience:

• +6  years of experience in purchasing, production, or manufacturing experience (mainly handling of indirect materials).
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, Finance (or equivalent) 
• Experienced negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Computer/Software/Manufacturing System knowledge of QAD, SAP and/or NAVISION or similar system required.      
• Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, required.
• Experience and ability to function in a cross-functional team environment.
• Good English oral & written communication skills, organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize.
• Broad purchasing principles and techniques.
• Creativity is welcomed and expected in fast paced environment.
• Analytical ability to work on complex problems and use independent judgment.
• Derive Cost Structure of sourcings
• Ability to travel as needed (not often).

Preferred Skills and experience:

• Purchasing experience in manufacturing or Automotive industry.
• Blueprint reading within pdf format
   

Work Environment: 
Fast paced within Plant and occasional remote.  The Buyer collaborates with all ZF business functions and externally with Suppliers.  Great Purchasing team support and ZF training.
