About the team:

We are looking for a new colleague to join our Mechanical Transmissions Team for Steering and Braking x-wire and conventional products within Engineering Center in Bielsko Biała. Our team is responsible for various mechanisms transmitting forces and moments, such as recirculation ball screws, bearings, rack & pinion and gear meshing. As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for creating work products like new designs of components and assemblies, specifications, work instructions, and validation plans for components and/or subassemblies. These transmissions are one of the most important mechanical elements to the division to ensure the final product will meet the customer satisfaction. The position works at the product/component level and ensures that the sub-system can be integrated into a steering / braking system to meet the requirements of the customer and of ZF requirements; this also includes the interfaces between the sub-systems.

 

What you can look forward to as Steering / Braking Hardware Product Engineer:

  • Design and develop ZF Steering & Braking Systems components and subassemblies according to ZF rules and standards to ensure robustness of the design and manufacturability,
  • Creation of related work products like design specifications, work instructions, validation plans, etc. for these Core projects,
  • Plan, supervise and perform tests and validations, collecting and analysing data from component and product validation. Interpretation of test and measurement results and utilization of them to drive design improvements,
  • Set up of test programs and DoEs to determine product key performance parameters,
  • Determination and coordination of necessary CAE calculations and tolerance analyses, 
  • Support ZF manufacturing sites in pre-launch readiness activities (DFM/DFA, part trial runs, problem solving), when necessary,
  • Support suppliers during technical feasibility discussions and production readiness, when required.

 

Your profile as Steering / Braking Hardware Product Engineer:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent,
  • 2 years of experience in a similar position, experience with either recirculation ball screws, bearings, rack & pinion and / or gear meshing will be an asset,
  • Proficiency in technical drawing and experience in a similar position /project development,
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques such as DOE, 8D, 5W,
  • Very good English skills, both spoken and written, 
  • Tools for statistical analysis, like Minitab,
  • Strong collaboration skills with teams worldwide.
