Value management project manager

Key activity

 

Duties and expected results

Managing, leading and coordinating cost down projects for designated suppliers & customers

  • preparation of Cost Down Packs financial and technical assumptions based on existing/new ideas, customer specific requirements and constraints and commercial tasks
  • promoting and presenting ideas to internal and external stakeholders
  • acquiring cross functional support for CDP implementation
  • acquiring management approval for proposed Cost Down Packs through CQA/CCB/other applicable procedures
  • leading project implementation actions through Concept Validation phase and actively supporting further actions through DV and PV phases
  • preparation of handover for Program Management after CV phase
  • creating, sustaining and updating project tracking documentation for related CDPs. Aligning data with Commodity entries in MAPS

Identification of cost down opportunities

  • organization of internal/supplier idea generation workshops for designated customers, platforms or components
  • participation in designated matched pair teams contributing to development of Part Family Strategies and identifying potential cost down opportunities
  • cooperation with cross functional team (e.g. Engineering, Program Management, Commodity, Program Purchasing, Cost Engineering, SDE) on identification and development of potential cost down opportunities
  • evaluation of resourcing, design and process cost down opportunities regarding their feasibility for designated customer

Plant Value Management Coordination

  • align on VMT initiatives with Plant functions
  • organize, support or facilitate special builds
  • promote VAVE approach across plant functions
  • identify, discuss and evaluate potential cost down opportunities with plant representatives
  • create presentation to present status of development of design related cost reduction ideas

VMT Program Purchasing Support

  • contribute to execution of VMT yearly OP targets
  • contribute to populating and executing 4-year plan
  • prepare presentations and organize trainings regarding VAVE approach related to idea generation, VMT processes and tools
  • prepare materials for dissemination regarding CDPs and overseen cost down opportunities
  • investigate areas of potential improvement regarding approach

 

Profile:

 

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical / Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 3 years experience within the Automotive Industry (and proven background of Project Management and technical expertise
  • Flexible, open minded, self-motivated and an ability to work on own initiative in a global & cross-functional team as good team player
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Very good English skills necessary – additionally German, Polish, Spanish or Chinese would be an advantage
  • Very Good Microsoft Office skills necessary
  • Design, FMEA, DRBFM & validation expertise would be an advantage
  • A willingness to travel and possibly work overseas for short periods of time
  • Candidates should preferably be Certified Six Sigma Green belts; PMI certification and Value Management skills are an advantage
