ZF CV Systems North America LLC has a job opening for the positions of Supplier Development Engineer based out of its location in Auburn Hills, MI.

Job Duties:  Develop local supplier base in North America to achieve local content goal, use technical expertise in mechanical parts, elastomer, plastics and chemical finish surface bringing lessons learned to local suppliers in order to prevent launch failures and supplier fast time supply chain development. Be the ZF Commercial Vehicle Division's “one face to supplier” to develop new products using automotive standards APQP – Advanced Product Quality Planning process in North America Region; Release supplier Part Approval Process (PPAP) in agreement with the delivering plant quality; Ensure project quality to achieve zero defects and flowless lunches; Perform process audit (acc. VDA 6.3/technical checklist) at assigned suppliers. Track closure to open action item list at suppliers; Lead technology workshops to screen technology and manufacturing practices at the suppliers; Approve and follow change requests coming from suppliers and internally; Serve as technical lead of cross-functional teams; track of all project tasks regarding supplier development activities. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. 40% to 70% domestic travel. Travel to supplier base in North America region to develop on site local supply chain for mechanical parts and finish surface. Also travel to ZF manufacturing plants to review supplier performance and support product launches. 

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or closely related field, plus 5 years experience with/in Quality Assurance standards according to IATF 16949, Process Engineering, or Project Management, and demonstrated experience with: Manufacturing mechanical processes including machining, iron and aluminum casting and plastic injection mold, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement techniques (PDCA); Processing audits following IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards; AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) on Quality tools including: Advanced quality planning (APQP); Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); Problem Solving techniques – 8D and QRQC; Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA); Measurement System Analysis (MSA); and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Negotiating quality requirements contract for new projects; and Resolving and developing cooperative strategies between manufacturing plans and vendors.
