Job Description
*DNP* *CBD* ZF CV Systems North America LLC has job openings for the position of Engineer II - Customer Application based out of its location in Auburn Hills, MI.
Job Duties: Responsible to compare customer requirements and specifications with ZF specifications, identifying mapping specifications and deviations; Propose the ZF product matching the customer requirements, resolve deviations in consultation with product group engineer and customer, accomplish acceptance of deviations; Create change request for non-acceptable deviations, including breakdown of customer requirements; Select, design, calculate product layout for customer application; Consolidate / prepare product documentation (e.g., Drawings, schematics, plumbing/wiring diagrams, specifications, bill of materials); Configure product according to customer needs (e.g. parameter setting); Check component installation & system environment in the vehicle; Startup system in the vehicle, run through initialization procedure; Check system functions in the vehicle; Adapt parameter setting where required; Homologate or support customer to homologate according to national and international regulations; Carry-out tests on special customer demand (e.g., system performance demonstration); Provide test report; Train & instruct customer on product features, end-of-line process & requirements etc.; Get technical approval of application from customer; Provide technical release of application; and Must be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as soon as possible upon start of employment. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Position requires up to 30% travel to domestic and international to customer sites to perform audits, support builds, and attend testing workshops, and travel to support seasonal testing activities.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any), or closely related field, plus 1 year of experience in a role involving engineering or customer service for technical/scientific products, and demonstrated experience with: Providing product support to customer for precision—engineered automotive components; Engineering analysis of automotive components for conformity with engineering specifications; Design and/or validation of automotive components, including analysis for functionality; Reviewing specifications and customer requirements; Developing test plans and providing customer support that is in alignment with specifications and customer requirements; Root cause analysis and resolving production and design issues for automotive components; Reviewing technical drawings or vehicle wiring specifications to ensure conformity of manufactured automotive components with customer specifications and/or to troubleshoot vehicle wiring; and Experience with effectively communicating with automotive or commercial vehicle OEM or components manufacturers to understand technical requirements and effectively coordinate adaptation of products to suit customer’s intended use scenario and engineering tolerance specifications.
