ADAS Systems Engineer

We are looking for a new colleague in the ADAS department at our location in Auburn Hills, MI. The ADAS System engineer is responsible for system definition based on ZF components and that meets customer and internal stakeholder requirements. The ADAS Systems engineer must communicate with the customer frequently, be able to fully understand the customer’s needs, and understand the functionalities and limitations of current ZF components. He/she will then work pro-actively with internal teams to define a realistic system and architecture that meets all the stakeholder’s requirements. The ADAS System Engineer will need to lead negotiation and design related discussions with the customer to bring open issues to a close.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead technical discussions with the customer to understand the customer’s needs, analyze and understand customer specifications and requirements
  • Evaluate required performance level (KPI analysis)
  • Propose realistic solutions based on data / theory that meet all stakeholder requirements in alignment with function development
  • Clearly define and document assumptions and expectations to stakeholders to realize system goals
  • Design, plan and track system architecture in alignment with function development
  • Pro-actively determine gaps and/or missing details and ensure that stakeholders receive accurate and concise technical answers

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Automotive ECUs or embedded real time safety critical systems required
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate technical concepts with customers
  • Strong understanding of relevant engineering practices necessary
  • Ability to work as a team player to align with other ZF stakeholders internally is critical
  • Good understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN/CAN-FD/Ethernet), Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Trigonometry preferred
  • General knowledge of automotive standards (J1939, UDS) preferred
  • Experience with automotive tools (Vector/PEAK/etc) and Mathworks Matlab/Simulink a plus
  • Familiarity with requirements management and issue resolution tools (DOORS/Integrity) preferred
  • Proficiency in German preferred
