Internship: Physics enhanced machine learning for vibration prediction of wind turbine gearboxes
Antwerpen, Antwerp, BE, 2600
Req ID 73218 | Antwerpen, Belgium, ZF Wind Power Antwerpen NV
We are looking for interns or Master thesis students for ZF Wind Power in our location in Antwerp.
Duration: Six months, start date flexible.
About us:
ZF Wind Power puts wind energy in motion! The ZF Wind Power Business Unit is part of ZF group which is known as one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers. Within our unit we develop, validate and service gear units used in wind turbines producing sustainable energy and we have been doing this for more than 40 years! Today we build new drivetrain solutions to meet the requirements of the future. As wind turbines continue to grow, we are continuously pushed outside of our engineering boundaries, which makes it a challenging engineering environment to work in.
What you can look forward to:
- Simulate the dynamic behavior of gearboxes using data-driven (machine learning) and physics-based (multi-body) models.
- Research new techniques to enhance data-driven models with physical knowledge, or vice versa.
- Evaluate developed approaches for robustness and potential for generalization.
- Implement Gearbox Digital Twin functionality and automated calculation tools for gearboxes.
Your profile:
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field with an interest in data science.
- Proficient in Python programming with initial experience in machine learning.
- Basic knowledge of drivetrain and gear technology is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge and/or initial experience with multi-body modeling is a plus.
- Strong team spirit, analytical skills, quick comprehension, and a solution-oriented, independent working style.
- Proficient in English.
